GTV Device Owned: NSZ-GT1 (Bluray Player)
Hey guys. First post here. I have had my device offline for close to a moth here while I debate rooting. I was hoping someone could help me before I dive in. My first question is this: I am sitting at build # 20122012601_WWV_ORSC_.201220126101419. Is this where I need to be? As in, I don't need to update any firmware before the root?

Question 2: If I have only one USB stick, is this method fine as long as I keep rewriting the stick? Does that increase my chance to brick?

Speaking of brick: What are my real chances if I follow these steps perfectly? I've rooted two phones with no issues. Has anyone heard of this method bricking a device?

"dd.exe may not write properly under Windows 7": Will this just be an annoyance or can it affect my Sony box?

Lastly: Any other words of advice for me? Anything people wish they knew beforehand?

Thanks for the help, guys! I can't wait to get the most out of Google TV!

Hi welcome to the forums!

Your current build looks good just as long as it is not the 2012.02.22
You have the 2012.01.26 see http://www.gtvhacker.com/index.php/Sony_Update_Downloads

You can use one USB stick it takes longer and if you do it right you should not have any problems. I recommend using the Win32Imager method as it is easier than the DD.exe
You would brick your device on step 3 if the file did not write properly or you didnt follow the correct methods.

Check out http://youtu.be/tH8vTz01hR4 for a visual step by step

Hi -- I'm having trouble downgrading to the exploitable firmware. I know I have to change the ro.build.id but the one of the wiki just says "Master." Any suggestions? Thanks!

What is this? I don't see anything like this on the website. Thanks!

Just watched the video. So you download that program and then you don't need to mess with the command prompt then?

Ok last question (and thanks for all the help so far): If I am using only 1 USB, should I reformat each time before re-writing the "USB 1", "USB 2"... just to make sure everything is cleared?
